JEA New Headquarters Building
Jacksonville, Florida
2023
Siebein Associates developed acoustical criteria for the core and shell package for the project for outside to inside noise reduction, interior noise levels from HVAC and other equipment noise, STC ratings for wall and floor/ceiling assemblies, IIC ratings for floor/ceiling assemblies and reverberation time criteria for acoustical finishes for spaces to be built out in the core and shell.
We conducted acoustical measurements of existing ambient noise levels at 7 locations in the vicinity of the construction site of the building and constructed a computer model site noise study to determine sound levels on the facades of the building. We provided acoustical design recommendations for upgrades to the exterior construction assemblies to meet design criteria.
During the tenant build-out phase, we conducted computer model studies of the 2,500 sq. ft. board room/multipurpose room with an operable partition to create two rooms; the 3,500 sq. ft. training room with two operable partitions to create up to three rooms; and the 2,000 sq. ft. multipurpose room with two operable partitions to create up to three rooms to assist in determining acoustical properties of interior finish materials. We conducted acoustical analysis of the spaces and provided acoustical design recommendations for partition types and acoustical finishes to maintain the speech privacy criteria for the project; acoustical wall type selections to achieve the required sound isolation between critical spaces; and acoustical design guidelines for noise and vibration control for MEP systems.
